About the Role

The StoryCon Logistics Director helps plan and execute StoryCon by overseeing operational logistics, attendee flow, venue coordination, volunteer systems, and onsite event execution. This role works closely with the StoryCon Managing Director and Programming Director to ensure the event runs smoothly, efficiently, and in alignment with StoryCon’s mission and goals.


The Logistics Director oversees logistics-related committees and serves as a key operational leader responsible for coordinating facility needs, registration flow, signage, exhibitor logistics, and volunteer operations. This role also supports communication and coordination between departments to ensure successful event implementation.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Team Management: Oversee logistics-related committees including Registration, Volunteers, Exhibitors, and Signage; hold regular meetings; foster a positive and collaborative team environment

  • Event Logistics & Operations: Coordinate venue logistics, attendee flow, operational timelines, floorplans, registration systems, signage placement, and onsite logistics execution

  • Facility & Vendor Coordination: Work with the Managing Director and event partners to coordinate operational needs related to the venue, decorator, catering, A/V, and additional event vendors

  • Systems & Planning: Maintain logistics timelines, checklists, budgets, and project tracking systems including Monday.com; identify risks and communicate operational concerns proactively

  • Load-In & Event Execution: Oversee setup, move-in, event-day logistics, troubleshooting, volunteer coordination, and strike/load-out operations

  • Post-Event Support: Participate in post-event assessments, operational reviews, and process improvement planning for future StoryCon events

Requirements

  • 8–10 hours per week average. Commitment hours will fluctuate according to the StoryCon planning and event schedule. Work hours may vary week to week based on project needs, with increased time commitment expected during key planning and event periods.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines, teams, and operational systems simultaneously

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to make timely decisions and adapt quickly in fast-paced environments

  • Experience working at conventions, conferences, festivals, or large-scale events preferred

  • Experience managing logistics teams, volunteers, or operational workflows preferred

  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, Monday.com, Canva, and event management systems preferred but not required
