About the Role
The Main Stage Manager for StoryCon is responsible for designing and executing a mission-driven main stage experience that brings the event’s purpose to life.
This role shapes the audience experience by structuring programming, pacing energy, and ensuring seamless transitions between speakers, performers, and programming elements. Serving as the central connector between programming, production, and talent, the Main Stage Manager oversees AV coordination, run of show, cueing, rehearsals, and live stage flow. Preparation begins months in advance by gathering key information, aligning technical and programming needs, and coordinating schedules to ensure a smooth event experience.
During StoryCon, the Main Stage Manager manages backstage operations, oversees speaker and performer flow from arrival to exit, maintains precise timing, and adapts quickly to real-time changes. In collaboration with cross-functional teams, this role ensures all technical, logistical, and creative elements come together seamlessly to deliver a polished main stage experience.
Requirements
Job Requirements:
-3-5 hours per week average. Commitment hours will fluctuate with the majority of the work occuring between Dec and Feb.
-Design and execute a cohesive main stage experience aligned with StoryCon’s mission and vision
-Structure programming and pacing to guide the audience experience
-Coordinate speakers, performers, and transitions on the main stage
-Serve as the primary liaison between programming, production, AV teams, and talent
-Develop and manage the run of show, including cueing and rehearsals
-Gather information and coordinate schedules months in advance of the event
-Oversee backstage operations and manage speaker/performer flow from arrival through departure
-Maintain precise timing while adapting quickly to live changes
-Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure technical and logistical alignment
-Deliver a seamless stage experience where operational complexity remains invisible to the audience
