About the Role

The StoryCon Presenter Outreach Committee Chair helps plan and execute StoryCon by managing communication and relationships with presenters, authors, and industry professionals. This role oversees the presenter outreach process—from maintaining contact lists and scheduling outreach communications to supporting presenters during the event. Working closely with the VIP & Guest Manager and Programming Director, the Chair leads the Presenter Outreach Committee, ensures timely and organized communication with presenters, and helps create a positive and professional experience for StoryCon guests. All work supports the mission of Operation Literacy and reflects its values of kindness, empowerment, vulnerability, creativity, industry, and joy, while using the StoryCon guiding principle “Connect. Create. Become.” to guide decisions and interactions. 


Responsibilities: 

  • Meet regularly with and report to the VIP & Guest Manager 

  • Lead and manage the Presenter Outreach Committee 

  • Maintain and organize the presenter contact list 

  • Update and schedule presenter outreach communications 

  • Maintain presenter outreach announcements and materials 

  • Organize presenter information based on the StoryCon schedule 

  • Follow outreach timelines and checklist calendars to meet deadlines 

  • Respond to presenter questions and provide support 

  • Foster relationships with authors and industry professionals while maintaining confidentiality of presenter information 

  • Serve as Presenter Green Room host during StoryCon 

  • Coordinate presenter thank-you gifts 

  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment 

  • Participate in post-event assessments

Requirements

Job Requirements:

-5-7 hours per week average. Commitment hours will fluctuate, with bulk of the work occurring between July-August and December-February.

-Strong leadership and communication skills in managing a committee

-Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines

-Ability to make timely and effective decisions

-Working knowledge of Google Workspace, particularly Google Sheets

-Working knowledge of Monday, Airtable, or similar project management platforms preferred

-Experience working at conventions, conferences, or similar events preferred

-Experience working with authors, VIPs, or industry professionals preferred

-Familiarity with the publishing industry preferred
